On January 10, 2021, the Commencement ceremony of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant was held in Hoa Binh. This is a special grade project, built on the main stream of Da River, in Hoa Binh city. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and issued a groundbreaking order.
Attending the ceremony were Mrs. Truong My Hoa – Former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; On behalf of Central leaders, there were representatives of leaders of the Government Office, Central Ministries, Departments, Branches, State Capital Management Committee in enterprises. Regarding the leaders of Hoa Binh province, there were: Mr. Ngo Van Tuan – Secretary of Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee; leaders and former leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, departments, and departments of Hoa Binh province; On the side of Vietnam Electricity, there were: Mr. Duong Quang Thanh – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Members; Mr. Thai Phu Ne – Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former Minister of Energy; On the side of Construction Joint Stock Company 47 (Contractor consortium member), there were Mr. Truong Nhat Quang – Advisor to the Board of Management (BOM); Mr. Le Trung Nam – Chairman of the Board of Management; Mr. Pham Nam Phong – Vice Chairman of the Board of Management; Mr. Ta Nam Binh – Member of the Board of Management cum Head of Internal Audit Committee; Mr. Duong Minh Quang – Member of the Board of Management cum General Director, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hai – Member of the Board of Management cum Deputy General Director; Head and Deputy Head of functional departments of the Company; Unit Representatives of Design Consulting, Supervisory Consulting and inhabitants in the project area.
The Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project is built on the right bank of the existing Hoa Binh hydroelectric dam. The Powerhouse is in the territory of Phuong Lam ward. The Intake gate and inlet canal are located in Thai Binh ward, Hoa Binh city, Hoa Binh province. The project has been approved by the Prime Minister in terms of the Pre-Feasibility Study Report, invested by Vietnam Electricity (EVN), and assigned Power Project Management Unit 1 to represent the Investor. The project has a total capacity of 480MW, including 2 units, each with a capacity of 240 MW. The average annual power generation output is about 488.3 million kWh / year. The project is predicted to bring about efficiency after its completion and on the operation such as: Increasing the capacity of generating peak coverage capacity for the national power system, creating favorable conditions maximize the annual discharge of excess water in the flood season of the existing Hoa Binh hydropower plant to generate electricity; Improving frequency regulation and stability capacity of the national power system; contributing to cost reduction of the system; Reducing the working intensity of the existing units, thereby prolonging the life of equipment, saving maintenance and repair costs.
To participate in the construction of this project, Construction Joint Stock Company 47 previously participated in the construction of numerous key national projects, invested by Vietnam Electricity, as follows: Dong Nai 4 Hydropower Project (Dak Nong Province); Srepok 4 Hydropower Project (Dak Lak Province); Da Nhim Hydropower Plant Expansion Project (Lam Dong and Ninh Thuan Provinces); Thuong Kon Tum Hydropower Project (Kon Tum province); Song Bung 2, Song Bung 4A and Song Bung 5 (Quang Nam province); A Luoi Hydropower Plant (Thua Thien Hue province); Trung Son Hydropower Project (Thanh Hoa province) … The works are highly appreciated by the Investor for quality, progress and art.
According to the projected progress, Unit 1 of the project will generate electricity in the third quarter of 2024, unit 2 will generate electricity and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024. After completion, The Existing and the new hydropower plants will reach the capacity of 2400 MW.
